Dennis Hunt & Company L.L.C. The History of Dennis Hunt & Company L.L.C. Dennis Hunt & Company L.L.C. of Manchester, was started by Dennis Hunt in August of 1973 when Dennis was just 22 years old. He had completed 5 years of welding apprenticeship under the watchful eye of his late uncle, Wayne C. Hunt, at Hunt Brothers Garage. Armed with a pickup truck and a portable welder Dennis started welding for area farmers and contractors and soon had established his business to the point of needing a shop for the company to grow. In May of 1974 Dennis secured a $10,000 loan to acquire equipment and rent a shop located at the old Jersey Gold Dairies on Short Street. The loan was made possible with the help of the late Jack Riddle, the late Dale Ridner and Gaylen Fann. Dennis has always hoped these individuals have been proud to say that they helped a fellow Manchester small business get on it's feet! People's Bank and Trust was the source of the loan and Dennis still does business with them to this day. Steel erection soon became part of the service offered by Dennis and a crane was needed to grow. In 1976 Dennis purchased his first crane of many to come over the next several years. By 1985 the crane service portion of the business had outpaced the welding part to the point that Dennis decided to quit welding and machine services all together. It was then that the business moved from Short Street to its present location on Campground Road. Today Dennis Hunt & Company offers hydraulic crane service with cranes ranging from 5 ton to 120 ton. The 120 ton crane is the largest hydraulic crane in Tennessee locate outside the major cities.
