You would not know it because of Manchester's size, but southern middle Tennessee has become the host for several big name events that are happy to call this corner of the world home.
BONNAROO MUSIC FESTIVAL
The Bonnaroo Music Festival now has a permanent home in Manchester, Tennessee. The festival that Rolling Stone dubbed, "the American rock festival to end all festivals," attracts nearly 90,000 music fans from around the globe each year. Festival goers make the trek to Manchester to hear top headlining acts like Tom Petty, Dave Matthews, The Police and The Dead rock out on a variety of stages. Each of the 50 states is represented at the Bonnaroo Music Festival, along with 24 countries. The weekend festival brings in so many people that for three days Manchester actually becomes the state's sixth largest city. Join us for Bonnaroo this year and every year in June. Manchester-Coffee County Wine Festival
This is the inaugural year of the Manchester-Coffee County Wine Festival! This event celebrates the rich agri-tourism industry in the Manchester area. Join us at the Manchester-Coffee County Conference Center in October for your chance to sample award-winning wines from wineries across the state. You will also be treated to an assortment of musical guests and a fine arts show. Sample Tennessee products like honey, jams and jellies and cheeses and pick up a few to take home with you. As you stroll through the center, you will be reminded of old-fashioned street fairs with twinkling lights and glittering white canopy tents. We're sure this new event in Manchester will quickly become a favorite. To purchase your tickets or learn how to become a vendor, call the chamber office at 931.728.7635.
Old Timer's Day
For over 40 years, the City of Manchester has celebrated the richness of its past with Old Timer's Day. This family-friendly event offers something for everyone- from music and dancing to games and rides for the kids. The festivities are kicked off with a parade through town, leading everyone to Dave King Park. Browse through the crafts along Manchester's lush greenway or watch the Civil War re-enactments that bring history alive. And then there's the food…the Rotary Club serves up their famous BBQ chicken while other vendors offer your favorite comfort foods. New this year is family movie night, where a big screen is brought into the park for a special showing of classic family movies. The day is capped off with a spectacular fireworks display and a renewed sense of pride in the community. To learn more about Old Timer's Day, call the Recreation Department at 931.728.0273.
